Exhibitors and buyers unanimously welcome new schedule for Supreme Women&Men Düsseldorf – sustainable labels and concepts presented

On Friday, July 19th, through Monday, July 22nd, exhibitors presented about 500 top-range productions reflecting the latest in international women’s andmen’s fashion on three floors of Supreme Women&Men Düsseldorf Exhibition space. For the first time ever, the established four-day order show at B1 (Bennigsen Platz 1) in Düsseldorf opened its gates one day earlier than before, reaping positive results for everyone involved.

“We had a very positive exhibitor feedback on the new schedule," says Vanessa Frank, Supreme Women&Men project leader. “The order volume on Friday was significantly higher than on the Tuesdays in the years before, proving our decision to move the event forward one day right.”

The higher visitor frequency resulting from opening the event on Friday was also felt in the surrounding showrooms. Peter Hofmann, managing director at Beate Heymann, says, “On Friday, the first day of Supreme Women&Men, both we and our colleagues in the other showrooms had considerably more visitors than on the Tuesdays in previous years. The atmosphere and spirit at the trade show and in the showrooms was excellent on all four days." Mr. Hofmann emphasized the importance of a joint effort by event organizers and showrooms in Düsseldorf: “We all need to join our forces because we're stronger together."

“This edition of Supreme Women&Men in Düsseldorf was our first after a ten year hiatus,” says Uli Schneider, owner of Uli Schneider Design. “Düsseldorf is important as the order season kickoff, and I was pleasantly surprised by the high attendance and the fact that we booked so many meetings on Friday, the very first day.”

Exhibitors and visitors alike praised the professional event organization and the networking effects at the trade show. “There are moments that open new doors and make you eternally grateful,” says Konstanze Maager, Cashmere Victim. “I would really like to thank Vanessa Frank of The Supreme Group. It was an outstanding event for us. The great atmosphere and camaraderie among the exhibitors in particular was wonderful. This event made Fashion fun!”

Press talk on sustainable fashion labels at Supreme Women&Men Düsseldorf

Sustainability is a hot topic, and that includes the fashion industry. How to balance premium quality and sustainability in fashion? Where does sustainability start – and where does it end? On Saturday, July 20 th, The Supreme Group invited exhibitors and manufacturers to discuss these and related questions at the tradition Supreme Women&Men Düsseldorf Press Talk.

The panel included Angelika Firnrohr (Managing Director, Fashion Net), Robert Sakic (owner, Studioventitre), Eva-Maria Czerny (Buying & Production, Czerny Manufaktur), and Bülent Öcal (Designer, Larens Zurich).

“It was fascinating to learn the many ways in which individual exhibitors think about and live sustainability,” says Miriam Dietz, Business Development & Communications, The Supreme Group. “There are numerous, highly creative approaches. One thing is clear: the high-end fashion segment does live sustainability. What’s more is that these talks give our exhibitors an opportunity for exchange and networking. We were happy to see the mutual interest and appreciation."

Angelika Firnrohr also deems the Press Talk a success. “There is a lot going on in Düsseldorf at the moment. As an industry organization, we at Fashion Net feel a responsibility to raise awareness for sustainability in Düsseldorf,” Ms. Firnrohr states. “I was thrilled to see so many sustainably produced labels at Supreme Women&Men and to experience such an inspiring exchange.”

All panel members agreed that manufacturers that regulatory requirement aren’t the best way to promote sustainability. Instead, manufacturers need to develop their own specific approaches – and put them into practice.
